I'm extremely picky about the books I read. Most of the time if it's a free download I'll read the first chapter then skim the book. This book I enjoyed. A great storyline and likeable characters. I read it in one sitting. EXTREMELY unusual for me. Sex scenes weren't over the top, because the book was about the characters.i had only two minor complaints, 1) the use of Bang, clang, and boom, made the fighting/training lackluster. Descriptions of movements with reactions would have added to the flavor of the scenes. 2) the teenage-sounding sex scenes. Every time I read "oh Craig," during the sex scenes, I kept thinking, for a divorced woman from the future, her vocabulary is rather limited in the bedroom. It was pretty much the only thing she said when the hero made love to her. She clearly wasn't inexperienced, but she sure sounded like it. I felt like I was reading sex scenes from a new adult book. In fact, they reminded me of the eye rolling I did while reading Fifty Shades of Gray when Anastasia's constantly says "oh my" when she's having sex with Christian. HOWEVER, this book's sex scenes are far superior in writing to FSOG, just wish the heroine had acted a little more mature.Over all, my objections were out-weighed by the strong storytelling, likeable characters, and the unique method of time travel. I'd recommend this as a good time travel for those who enjoy the subgenre, and want a good book to read. I enjoyed this story but got a little sad. Craig Cambel and his clan were betrayed by a clan they use to trust. They kidnapped his sister and abused her and killed Craig's grandfather. He trusted no one, he felt he couldn't take the chance with his clan. He was tall, strong and she thought he was so very handsome.Amy MacDougall is from the future. She does Search and Rescue. When she was 10 she was locked in a barn and forgotten for three days. She became claustrophobic and hated dark places. When she arrived it was 1308, a siege was going on.The book was absorbing, interesting, and entertaining. The characters were unique and very lifelike.The countryside was green and lush. There was a lot going on. The author did a wonderful job keeping all the lines of the tale straight. I think it was time well spent and would highly recommend it.I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
